I took what ~Hfoursaur said last year as something of a challenge, though I’m pretty sure that wasn’t exactly her intention.

For those who are unfamiliar with my (rather small) cast of characters, this is Aras. He's the character who has stuck around with me the longest, though he's changed quite a few times over the past few years.
I’ve been keeping this piece around and fiddling with it for a while, but I figured it was time to be done with it. I know I’ve still got some ways to go, but I like the comparison.
As usual, critique will be much appreciated! I’m always looking to improve.

You really are coming along in leaps and bounds. 
The biggest improvement (in my humble opinion) is in how you've pulled out the 3D structure of his face.
The detail in his irises is really gorgeous, but my favourite feature has got to be his hair. It looks so silky and messy. I just want to ruffle it.
