Description
I'm really not sure which category this is supposed to go under, since it's digital, papercut, sequential, and also a book...
The final project for a class titled "The Artist in the Museum: Making Books" that I took last semester, which I finally got around to photographing. Our task was to create an artist’s book. (I posted a few character concepts for the book a few months ago.) Since it’s a little difficult to display a book that’s meant to be handled physically, I’ll just do my best to explain what I was trying to do here.
The reader can start at either cover. There are two stories, one starting at each end of the book; the stories meet (and end) in the middle. That’s why I have two different titles, two covers, two dedications, two title pages, and so on. I've displayed the stories next to each other so that each column is one story.
I drew all of the images digitally, stuck them in a template and ordered books from Blurb, and after I received the books I pasted in the endpapers and cut the pages with an Xacto blade. The envelope on the inside cover is supposed to hold cutouts of the characters, just for fun.
I think photographs do a far better job showing the entire book, but if you're interested I posted the digital images on my Tumblr.

EDIT: Thank you to everyone who has stopped by to enjoy this piece! I'm honored to have been featured. And ~Hfoursaur and `Talty deserve a special mention for suggesting and featuring me!
I've had a few people ask me if I sell these, and I do. I just don't have a page specifically dedicated to the sale of these books (sales so far have happened in person), and they are a bit pricey due to printing and labor costs. The books are 12" x 12" x 1/2", hardcover, part of a limited edition of 12. I will do a personalized sketch in your book upon request. If you're interested please send me a note or email!
